Registration:

Registration will be handled exclusively on-line with Zone4 (www.zone4.ca).  Registration will open by February 14, 2012.  Entries must be submitted by Midnight, Tuesday, February 28, 2012.  Entries received after this date will be subject to acceptance by the jury and subject to a late fee of $50 per race.  Entries received after February 28 must be made by e-mail (preferred) to Debra Friendly or Fax 1-705-444-6959, Attn:  OCup #4 Competition Secretary.

Athletes and coaches are responsible for verifying their registration and should notify the organization of any changes before Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. by e-mail to Debra Friendly or Fax 1-705-444-6959, Attn:  OCup #4 Competition Secretary.

Confirmation lists will be posted at the event website (http://www.ccski.com/ocup2012/confirm) starting on February 21, 2012 and will also be provided at the team captains’ meeting on Friday, March 2, 2010.  Note that confirmation lists on www.zone4.ca cannot reflect post-registration changes so it is important to check the event website if you have requested any changes.

Eligibility:

In order to participate, a skier (other than midget) must have a valid racing license issued by FIS or CCC or a SMDL (Supporting Member Day License).  SMDL (which includes a waiver) must be purchased when registering on Zone4.  Waivers for those under the age of majority (18) who are racing with an SMDL must be signed by a parent or guardian. 

Skiers racing in Midget categories do not need a license, however, must provide a paper waiver signed by their parent or guardian.  The waiver for skiers under the age of majority is appended at the end of this notice.

Waivers requiring parent or guardian signature should be sent by fax to Highlands Nordic 1-705-444-6959, Attention OCup #4 Competition Secretary by noon on Friday, March 2 or brought to the race office no later than the day of the underage racer’s first race.  Bibs cannot and will not be issued to athletes without the appropriate license and/or waiver. 

Full eligibility rules are available in the Technical Package which is available at the CCO website.

Fees: are non-refundable, payable via Zone 4 only until midnight, February 28, by cheque to Highlands Trail Blazers Race Society thereafter   Fees include access to trails on official training and competition days only.  Zone4 charges are extra.

Open, Masters, Junior, Juvenile and Paranordic categories: $50 per race ($100 per race after February 28) – includes $5 CCO, $5 SOD fees and $5.75 HST

Midget: $22 per race ($72 per race after February 28) – includes $2.50 CCO, $2.50 SOD fees and $2.53 HST

Paranordic guides: no fee but do have to register, have CCC license or purchase SMDL and sign a waiver

SMDL (if required):  $5 per race

Bib replacement fee:  Competitors’ clubs will be charged $75 for replacement of any bib which is not returned at the end of EACH race.

Waxing, Wax Testing and Warming Areas:

Main wax area will be the groomer bay.  Space for waxing tables (no power) will be provided in the stadium.  The main chalet will serve as the warming area and will also house the race office and first aid station.

Seeding:

The current CPL for both distance and sprint competitions will be used.  Foreign skiers will be seeded as determined by the Jury with reference to the competitors’ CPL points.  Where a foreign skier has no CPL points, the Jury will use its discretion in seeding the skier.  The Ontario High Performance Committee (HPC) will only consider special seeding cases based upon written submission to the HPC Chair.  These submissions must be received by Friday, February 11, 2012.  The HPC will notify the organizing committee and TD of their decision.

For Sprint qualifying on Saturday, junior Men and senior men, junior women and senior women will be combined for seeding purposes and run as single open classes; however, the classes will be separated into junior and senior classes for heats, awards and results publication purposes.   There will be no Masters class for the Sprints.  Any Masters skier wishing to compete in the sprints will be considered a senior skier

Jury:  The Jury will consist of the Technical Delegate, Chief of Competition and the Ontario coach.

Awards and Results:

Results will be posted outside the race office and will be on line at www.zone4.ca.

Awards will be presented on the south side of the chalet approximately 20 minutes after the last racer has crossed the finish line and will be based on unofficial results.

Medals and merchandise awards will be presented to the top three individuals of both genders in all classes offered.

Cancellation: Any change in the event location or timing will be posted as early as it is known at www.ccski.com\.  Where possible, a decision on event cancellation or change of site will be made by CCC one week prior to the event in consultation with the organizing committee and TD.

CROSS COUNTRY CANADA

INFORMED CONSENT AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT

By signing this document you will assume certain risks. Please read carefully.

This is a binding legal agreement. As a Participant in the sport of cross-country skiing and the programs, activities and events of Cross Country Canada and Canadian Snowsports Association (hereinafter called CCC/CSA),  Cross Country Ontario (hereinafter called the Division), Highlands Trailblazers Race Society, Highlands Trailblzers (collectively hereinafter called Club) and Highlands Nordic,( hereinafter called the facility) which include without limitation cross-country skiing competitions, camps, clinics, and related activities such as roller-skiing , road cycling, running and hiking (hereinafter called the Activities), the Participant and/or the Parent/Guardian of the Participant (hereinafter called the Parties), acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

Description of Risks - The Participant is participating voluntarily in the Activities. In consideration of the Participant’s participation in the Activities
sanctioned by one or more of CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club, the Parties hereby acknowledge that they are aware of the risks, dangers and hazards associated with or related to the Activities, and may be exposed to such risks, dangers and hazards. The risks, dangers and hazards include, but are not limited to, injuries from:

a) training whether indoor or outdoor including strength training, running, hiking, and cycling;

b) overusing, exerting and stretching various muscle groups and strenuous cardiovascular workouts;

c) vigorous physical exertion, rapid movements and quick turns and stops;

d) falling to the ground due to slips, trips or uneven, slippery or irregular terrain or surfaces;

e) contact, colliding or being struck by skis, ski poles, equipment, trees, other individuals or other fixed objects;

f) failing to participate within one’s abilities, skill and within designated areas;

g) becoming lost or separated from the group or the group becoming split up;

h) failure to properly use any piece of equipment or from the mechanical failure of any piece of equipment;

i) extreme weather conditions which may result in frostbite, hypothermia, snowstorms, sunstroke or lightning strikes;

j) encounters with animals or plants including allergic reactions;

k) travel to and from training, competitive events and associated non-competitive events which are an integral part of Activities; and

l) other risks normally associated with participation in the Activities.

Furthermore, the Parties are aware:

a) that injuries sustained may be severe, paralyzing or fatal;

b) that the Participant may experience anxiety or embarrassment while challenging themselves during the activities, events and programs of CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club;

c) that the risk of injury is reduced if the Participant follows all rules established for participation; and

d) that the risk of injury increases as the Participant becomes fatigued.

Disclaimer -  In consideration of CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club accepting the Participant’s application for membership in the Club or allowing the Participant to participate, the Parties agree that CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club  and the facility, its respective directors, officers, committee members, members, employees, volunteers, participants, agents and representatives are not responsible for any injury, personal injury, damage, property damage, expense, loss of income or loss of any kind suffered by the Participant during, or as a result of, any of the Activities sanctioned by one or more of CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club, caused by the risks, dangers and hazards associated with the Activities.

Acknowledgement - The Parties confirm that:

a) the Participant’s physical condition is sufficient to allow participation in the sport of cross-country skiing and the activities,events and programs of CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club;

b) they have been provided sufficient information about Activities and the associated risks and hazards so that they are aware ofthe effect of this agreement;

c) the Participant agrees to abide by the Rules and Regulations imposed by CCC/CSA, the Division, the facility and the Club, in association with the Activities, and to follow the instructions of the officials during the Activities; and

d) they have read this agreement understand it, have executed this agreement voluntarily, and that this agreement is to be binding upon the Parties, their heirs, executors, administrators and representatives.

In addition, the Parties:

a) authorize CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club to collect and use personal information about the Parties which relates in any way to the Activities, including without limitation the publication of photographs in newsletters and promotional materials, and the posting of photographs, videos, articles, rosters, statistics, images and results on the CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club websites;

b) grant permission to CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club to photograph and/or record the Parties image and/or voice,
and to use this material to promote CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club through any form of and agree that the
audio/visual material and copyright will remain the sole property of CCC/CSA, the Division and the Club and waive any
claim to remuneration for use of audio/visual materials used for these purposes; and

c) understand that they may withdraw such consent at any time by contacting Cross Country Canada at 403-678-6791.
Cross Country Canada will advise the implications of such withdrawal.

FORMULAIRE DE RECONNAISSANCE ET D’ACCEPTATION DES RISQUES

En signant ce document, vous acceptez d’assumer certains risques. Veuillez lire attentivement.

La présente entente constitue un contrat exécutoire.  À titre de participant à une activité de Ski de fond Canada et de l’Association canadienne de ski et de surf des neiges, nommés dans ce texte SFC et l’ACSSN, de la division Cross Country Ontario, nommée dans le texte la division, et du Highlands Trailblazers Race Society et Highlands Trailblazers nommé dans le texte le club, et du Highland Nordic nomme le venue ladite activité pouvant comprendre notamment des épreuves de ski de compétition, des camps, des stages de formation ou cliniques, et des activités connexes comme le ski à roulettes, le vélo de route, la course à pied et la randonnée pédestre, nommées dans le texte les activités, le participant de même que son parent ou son tuteur légal, nommés dans le texte les parties contractantes, reconnaissent les termes suivants et acceptent de s’y conformer.     

Description des risques  -    Le participant reconnaît que sa participation aux activités est volontaire. En contrepartie de la participation du participant à des activités sanctionnées, seul ou conjointement,  par SFC et l’ACSSN, la division et le club, les parties contractantes reconnaissent les risques, dangers et faits du hasards associés à la pratique des dites activités, et conviennent qu’elles peuvent être sujettes à ces risques, dangers et faits du hasard. Ces risques, dangers et faits du hasard comportent notamment des blessures pouvant être causées par :

a)    Les activités d’entraînement intérieur ou extérieur incluant notamment la musculation, la course, la randonnée et le vélo;

b)    Le surmenage, l’utilisation ou l’étirement de divers groupes musculaires et les séances cardiovasculaires épuisantes ;

c)    L’effort physique vigoureux, les mouvements brusques, les virages et arrêts soudains ;

d)    Une chute au sol après avoir dérapé ou trébuché à cause d’une surface ou d’un terrain glissant, inégal ou irrégulier ;

e)    Un contact, une collision ou un impact avec des skis, des bâtons de ski, des équipements, des arbres, des personnes ou des objets fixes ;

f)     Une participation ne respectant pas ses propres limites ou ses habiletés ou à l’extérieur de l’espace désigné ;

g)    L’isolement après avoir perdu son groupe ou le fractionnement du groupe ;

h)    L’utilisation inappropriée d’une pièce d’équipement ou  le bris mécanique d’une pièce d’équipement ;

i)    Des conditions météorologiques extrêmes pouvant causer une engelure, l’hypothermie ou l’insolation, une tempête de neige ou la foudre ;

j)     Des rencontres avec des animaux ou des plantes allergènes ;

k)    Les déplacements pour aller et revenir : des entraînements, des activités de compétition et des activités non compétitives connexes qui font intégralement partie des activités  ;

l)    Tous les risques normalement associés à la pratique des activités.

Les parties conviennent également que :

a)     les blessures découlant des activités peuvent être graves, provoquer la paralysie ou même la mort ;

b)    le participant peut être anxieux ou embarrassé lorsqu’il se mesure à lui-même durant les activités, les événements et les programmes de SFC et de l’ACSSN, de la division et des clubs ;

c)    le risque de blessure diminue si le participant suit les toutes les règles de participation ;

d)    le risque de blessure augmente lorsque le participant éprouve de la fatigue.

Exonération - En contrepartie de l’acceptation du participant par SFC et l’ACSSN, par la division, le venue et le club, comme membre du club ou comme participant ayant droit de prendre part à une activité, les parties conviennent que SFC, l’ACSSN, la division et le club, leurs dirigeants et administrateurs respectifs, leurs membres, employés, bénévoles, participants, leurs agents et représentants ne sont pas responsables des blessures, blessures personnelles, dommages, dommages matériels, dépenses, pertes de revenu ou toute autre perte subis par le participant en raison de sa participation à une activité sanctionnée, seul ou conjointement,  par SFC et l’ACSSN, la division et le club, ou causés par les risques, dangers et faits du hasard associés à la pratique de ces activités.

Consentement -     Les parties s’engagent à ce qui suit :

a)    le participant possède un niveau de condition physique adéquat pour lui permettre de pratiquer le ski de fond et de participer aux activités, aux événements et aux programmes  de SFC et l’ACSSN, de la division et du club ;

b)   les parties chercheront à obtenir  l’information nécessaire sur les activités  et les risques associés, de façon à bien comprendre la portée de la présente entente ;

c)    le participant convient  de respecter les règlements imposés par SFC, l’ACSSN, la division, le venue et le club pour les activités et de suivre les directives des officiels au cours de ces activités ;  

d)     les parties reconnaissent avoir lu et compris la présente entente, ils acceptant de s’y conformer de façon volontaire et reconnaissent qu’elle est exécutoire pour les parties contractantes, leurs ayant droits, leurs liquidateurs de succession, administrateurs et représentants.  
 

De plus, les parties reconnaissent :

a)    qu’ils autorisent SFC, l’ACSSN, la division et le club à recueillir et utiliser des renseignements personnels relatifs aux activités sur les parties, notamment et sans aucune limite, la publication de photographies dans un bulletin de nouvelles ou des documents de promotion, la diffusion de photographies ,de films vidéos, d’articles, de tableaux, de statistiques, d’images et de résultats sur le site Internet de SFC, de l’ACSSN, de la division et du club.

b)    qu’ils donnent à SFC, l’ACSSN, à la division et au club la permission de prendre des photographies ou des films des parties contractantes et d’utiliser ces images et enregistrements sonores pour faire la promotion de SFC, de l’ACSSN, de la division et du club par divers médias et ils conviennent que ces images et enregistrements sonores demeureront la propriété intellectuelle de SFC, de l’ACSSN, de la division et du club et renoncent à intenter toute poursuite ou demander une rémunération relativement à l’utilisation des images et enregistrements utilisées aux fins mentionnées.  

c)    qu’ils peuvent résilier ce consentement  en tout temps en communiquant avec SFC à 403­678-6791.  Ski de fond Canada les informera des conséquences de cette résiliation.
